Topical Yeast Infection
The Problem With Topical Yeast Infection Treatments
For most of us when we hear the word "yeast" one of the the first things that comes to mind is baking bread. While it is true that the most common use for yeast is making dough rise, the fact is that yeast is all around us in the world including inside the human body.
When someone is in good health this usually isn’t a problem. The naturally occurring "good" bacteria in the human body helps to keep the yeast spores under control. However, when the delicate balance of the body gets even a little bit out of whack the yeast can grow out of control and can lead to what is commonly known as a yeast infection.
Today most people run to the corner drug store and buy a cream or an insert when they suspect that they have an infection. At first glance this seems like it would be the logical thing to do, right? The truth is, though, that these creams and over the counter remedies won’t cure yeast infections. Instead, they are actually part of the problem.
What happens is that they don’t kill all of the yeast in your body. Instead, they simply reduce the yeast in your body to an acceptable level by killing the weaker spores, leaving the stronger, more resilient spores lurking in your body. Over time this stronger strain of yeast can develop into another infection that is even harder to get rid of that the first one. If you follow this cycle long enough eventually you can wind up with chronic, recurring yeast infections.
If you want to get rid of a yeast infection for good it is best to treat the source of the problem rather than to just cover up the symptoms or use a "quick fix" that won’t give you lasting results.
The ideal treatment plan for a yeast infection is to use a fast remedy that will tackle the itching, burning and other symptoms while at the same time you address the underlying issues that caused the yeast infection in the first place. By using a two-pronged approach like this you get immediate relief and you help to ensure that you won’t have to deal with future infections as well.
